I just noted, ha the last time I blogged about this was in May 2009 and now it is May 2010 :P
Fiona and I reached Sa Pa in the day time and it was freezing cold!
Here's the hotel we stayed in.

It was ranked 2 star although honestly, the location was award-winning. It was right smack in the middle of the town and because of the small size of Sa Pa, it was walking distance to everywhere.

After checking in, I then knew why it was ranked 2 star despite the award winning location. The room has no heater!! Nor fire place!!
It was freezing cold yet there was no heater!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No joke especially I am someone who don't take cold too well.
Its a 4 storey building and no lift so we had to lug our luggage up. No porter lah this one not some big hotels. Its like a small family run hotel.
The facilities were comfortable. 2 beds, small tv, wardrobe and individual room toilet (heng ah!).
THANK GOD, the toilet has heater.
I think, Fiona and I were too tired out from all the travelling and the on-goings we put down our bag, unpack a lill and went to bed straight.
And slept till till late like wee hours in the morning.
Fiona and I got up, changed and went out to see see look look the town at
First, we settled our growling stomach. We walked around the town a little bit, but it was so empty!
We went back to sleep again in the freezing hotel room.
The next day, we got up REALLLY late. Like 3 odd.
Life, for its up and down, made me contented there and then. Sucha easily contented girl I am, yes?
We went back to the same place where we had our wee hours dinner to order lunch.
And my god, I don't know if its the cold weather that makes kids so adorable or what; must be the weather lah! I don't see any sucha adorable red cheeks kids in Singapore.

We walked around the town to see the town in actual day time and it really did open up my eyes that Sa Pa is located in a mountainous area.



You know how sometimes you wonder, what lies at the edge of earth?
That day I walked the edge of Sa Pa town. At the edge, I saw.... fields and greens.

As the place we were out is like the hearts of city in the mountainous area, there are many tribes that come by to sell tourists their ware.

We walked through another side of the town and took more photos!

In between the day, we did enter one agency and booked a hiking tour the next day. Because I didn't have proper shoes, I had to buy a pair.

The locals could see we aren't locals and probably not getting used to the cold. So they offered their warmth.

And we felt it. The warmth from the charcoal and the warmth of the Sa Pa locals.

So walked around some more and took more photos of the other side of town and their streets.

Finally, we walked back and decided to settled down in this bakery cafe for drinks to just ... take a break.

The next day was half a day of trekking which, I shall leave it for the next post.
